The best way that you can support us is through a donation. As Build Africa is a charity, we rely on the support of generous individuals to fund our life-changing work - we really cannot do it without you. Visit our donation page to make a quick and secure donation.
A great way to get involved in our work is by fundraising for us. You can either sign up to one of the incredible events listed on our website or arrange your own fundraising activities by yourself or with an organisation.
If you would like to give a significant personal donation then please visit our major donors page, or contact Sonja on [email protected] or call +44 (0)1892 519619. If you are interested in supporting Build Africa through your company or business then please enquire about a rewarding corporate partnership.
If you are a charitable trust or foundation and would like to form a partnership with Build Africa to deliver education solutions for children, please visit our trusts and foundations page. You can also email Mutani on [email protected] or call +44 (0)1892 519619.
Absolutely! Send your cheque made payable to ‘Build Africa’ to:
Second Floor, Vale House
Don’t forget to include your name and contact details and tell us how you raised the money so we can send you a thank you. Alternatively, you can make an online donation quickly and securely.
Unfortunately, Build Africa doesn’t offer overseas volunteering opportunities.
We employ professional local staff with expertise in both our projects and the social and cultural environments in which they work.
We also use local contractors for construction work. This helps the local economy and encourages the community to take an active interest in education and their children’s development.
However, we’d be delighted if you are interested in volunteering for Build Africa in the UK. Throughout the year we advertise internship positions in our UK office and we are always looking for skilled volunteers – particularly if your background is in a specialist field (e.g. designer, copywriter, photographer or researcher).
If you are interested in giving your spare time to a good cause please email [email protected].
Build Africa has developed an effective way of working with schools in community clusters rather than focusing on individual schools. We do not accept funding for individual schools.
Traditional methods of supporting a single school at a time can often be costly and inefficient. We know that developing an isolated school can even lead to problems such as overcrowding as parents move their children from unsupported schools in the same area – meaning more pressure on teachers and resources.
Instead, by working with small groups of schools simultaneously, you can help us reach entire communities and transform education for a more sustainable and brighter future for children.
Build Africa runs a 'child ambassador' scheme rather than traditional child sponsorship. This is because poverty is a complex issue that affects entire communities, so we make sure your support goes towards our wider work and not just one individual.
Traditional one-to-one child sponsorship can create jealousy among non-sponsored children, and in some cases lead to bullying. However Build Africa puts child welfare first, so our aim is for every child in the communities we work with to benefit from your generous support.
Through our child ambassador scheme, a student at a Build Africa supported school will write to you on behalf of the thousands of children that we work with across rural Africa, so you will get a true sense of what life can be like in the rural communities where we work.
Visit our child ambassador page to find out more.
The schools we support have their own curriculum and school uniforms, so unfortunately materials from the UK will be unsuitable.
In addition, we are unable to accept donations of this kind as we do not ship anything out to our work in Africa due to logistical costs. Instead, we buy all resources and supplies locally in order to help the local economy and communities.
For most of our resources we rely simply on vital fundraising by our supporters, but, if you do still have items you would consider donating, we suggest selling them via eBay for charity and selecting Build Africa as your chosen charity.
Unfortunately, we do not have the time or resources to assist with specific questions, arrange interviews and answer questionnaires. You can find information about our organisation on our resources pages or on our what we do pages.
Build Africa isn't a foundation or a grant-making organisation. We are a charity that seeks funding ourselves for the work we carry out with rural communities. Please note that we are unable to respond to unsolicited requests for funds.
Please visit our media enquiries page for more information.
I’m a company or supplier, can I contact Build Africa UK about a product or service that you might be interested in?
We already have a list of suppliers which we use in the UK office. We choose not to take unsolicited calls but accept email enquiries to [email protected]. If we’re interested in your product or services we will be in touch.
All our vacancies are advertised on our careers page. Unfortunately, we are unable to respond to speculative or unsolicited applications.
If you need to update us about a change of contact details please get in touch with Laura, our Supporter Care Officer, on [email protected] or call +44 (0)1892 519 619.
If you need to make any changes to your direct debit, please get in touch with Laura, our Supporter Care Officer, on [email protected] or call +44 (0)1892 519 619.
If your regular gift is paid by standing order you will need to get in touch with your bank directly as these changes cannot be made by Build Africa. However, we would appreciate it if you could let us know if you do make any amendments, for example changing the account your donations are made from.
